John & Marilyn Schulz
owners/hosts/maintainance
Almost eleven years ago, we decided to add some new direction to our lives. We bought Blumenthal Farms B&B. That decision has taken us on a journey that we never could have planned. We have met people from all over the world and we have grown to love meeting those from cultures different from our own. We find that we are really not that different after all. They come to our door as strangers, but if we have done our job right, they leave as friends.
Permanent residents are in the human and animal form. John is here on a full-time basis. He also teaches high school math in Johnson City. I now spend my work week in San Marcos teaching kindergarten. Our resident "greeter" is Honey Bear, our 11 year yellow lab.
She is joined by several animals that live here on the banks of the Pedernales. Momma Kitty is also 11 years old. She and Bear have grown up together. They have a great relationship. As youngsters, they would play games like let's drive "Mom" crazy by acting like they were fighting. I'm a quick learner...ignore them and they stop.
